Job Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all the daily operations of the facility. Ensures all crop production and packing is on schedule and of high quality while containing labor costs. Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivated work environment, and creating innovative approaches for improvement.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to achieve production targets while controlling costs and achieving quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Communicate and uphold Local Bounti's vision, mission, and values with employees
- Directs managers and supervisors to ensure efficient daily operations of the harvesting, packing, and shipping/warehouse.
- Indirectly supervises daily operations of the greenhouses, seeding, and transplanting areas, as well as Food Safety in conjunction with Head Grower and Senior Food Safety Manager, respectively.
- Accountable for operating expenses, quality control, and daily operation of the facility. This includes, but not limited to, production, planning and reporting, facility performance, labor management, balancing inputs, throughput & demand, and facilities maintenance Lead our efforts to be a lean organization and will guide us through continuous improvement activities to improve system efficiencies; will be largely judged on the revenue and the (relative) operating expenses.
- Work collaboratively with the SVP of Sales, VP of Operations, and Head Grower to assure sales forecasts are met
- Work collaboratively with Director of Supply Chain to assure raw materials are available for facility operations and sales
- Work collaboratively with Senior Food Safety Manager to assure optimal quality and food safety through sanitation and testing
- Assist Supply Chain department with maintaining vendor relationships for facility needs.
- Maximize efficiency of packing and delivering high quality produce, at the optimum cost, to meet business objectives
- Own all aspects of the operation and work with your team to ensure that daily targets are met, and ALL areas are clean and ready for operation the next day
- Responsible for maintaining a neat, orderly, and safe facility and operation
- Overseeing large projects and interpreting performance reports
- Act consistently with Local Bounti's mission to ensure the organization's effectiveness and success

- Coordinate with the support team for new product introductions as well as new product manufacturing processes or technologies
- Work closely with the facility management team to plan and set-up new processes for test runs, scale up, and long-term production processes
- Work closely with Business Development, Quality, and Scheduling for planning and scheduling new products and processing
- Analyze, recommend, and justify the purchase of capital equipment to support the company's strategic direction and changing technology needs
- Identify and implement manufacturing methods and organization structure to improve the efficiencies of material flow and to meet the needs of our customer
- Interact with the corporate support team on sales to review current and future needs
- Identify and incorporate opportunities to improve technologies, systems, and processes
- Along with HR, recruit, develop, coach, and mentor employees with the aim of production qualified, productive, and satisfied personnel that can keep abreast of changing technologies and customer needs
- Oversee the overall recruitment and selection of employees in coordination with Human Resources and the facility management team
- Oversee and/or delegate training and development of employees toward meeting current and future needs
- Establish with employee's input, job responsibilities and performance expectations
- Communicate expected results and provide ongoing performance feedback (both positive and negative)
- Manage employee quality of work life to ensure an informed, satisfied, and productive workforce

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing management or business strongly preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of experience with production activities in a Manufacturing environment, food grade preferred
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience managing people

Food Safety and Quality Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Safety and Quality Manager is responsible for assisting the Director in making sure that the company is following all food safety rules and guidelines. Implement and enforce quality control and food safety programs to maintain the best quality and safe processing of food products and laws as mandated by the federal government, commodity-specific regulations (i.e., FDA), and customer-specific requirements. This position will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the facility’s food safety, quality assurance, and other related programs. This position will also develop safety and quality assurance policies, procedures, and monitoring documentation to assure the Houston Food Bank is meeting food safety and quality requirements.

- Assist with the implementation and overseeing of the comprehensive food safety program. Ensures action plans to address gaps are tracked.
- Assist with overseeing the implementation and enforcement of the food safety program in all aspects of the company(s). Follow-up/post-audits occur to validate action plan completion.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of all training regarding food safety across all operations.
- Assist the Facilities Director in maintaining full compliance with the GFSI standard and other auditing services. Interacts with Food Safety Manager for the weekly update.
- Conduct Food Safety investigations and recommend corrective actions. When directed, then implement those corrective actions in the operation(s).
- Staying up to date on all relevant food safety legislation and standards that are applicable to the food business.
- Monitoring all food handlers to make sure that all food handling tasks are properly and safely carried out.
- Knowing how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards in the food business.
- Periodic reviews will be held with the Quality/ Food Safety with other Departments for compliance.
- Interacts with Managers daily to ensure accurate data is being reported for each department.
- Review and audit all areas that have a direct impact on facility sanitation.
- Monitor all areas of the warehouse, Keegan Kitchen, and recycle dock.
- Report all food safety problems to the Director of Facilities.
- Work with pest control providers on pest issues.
- Complete whatever tasks are necessary to maintain HFB compliance with city, state, and federal guidelines.
- Responsible for researching and responding to customer complaints (internal/external).
- Random audits/site visits to agencies.
- Random ride along with HFB drivers.
- Enforcement of food safety policies and procedures.
- Complete daily/weekly inspection reports.
- Maintain A2H/OSHA compliance.
- Serves as a member of the Safety Committee.
- Provide Serve Safe training and general safety training for HFB staff.
- Identify workplace food/safety hazards and develop solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- BS in Food Science, Biological Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, agricultural or plant science, or a related field
- 3-5 years experience working in food manufacturing in a technical services role (QA, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance, or other similar work experience)
- Knowledge, and working experience, with, food microbiology, RTE quality and food safety (preferably in fresh produce), HACCP, GMPs/Prerequisite programs; raw materials supply management, and sanitation
- Strong communication, negotiating, and conflict-resolution skills
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Excellent writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer operating systems
- Must have a valid driver’s license, be legally able to drive, and have reliable transportation
- Maintain current food safety, regulatory, and quality assurance knowledge through ongoing training and educational opportunities
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Food safety and quality certifications – HACCP/Advanced HACCP, PCQI, ISO 9001 or 22000 Lead Auditor
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge, and working experience, with pre-farm gate food safety principles such as farm and harvest food safety practices, GAPs, IPM, Pesticide use and regulation, compost production
- Demonstrated experience developing HACCP, and risk, based programs
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement programs
- Root Cause Analysis, Failure Analysis, and other similar process improvement processes

Brighter Bites is an evidence-based, multi-component elementary school, preschool, and summer camp program that utilizes reliable access to fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and consistent exposure to recipes and messages that feature fresh food. Role
The Program Associate works primarily at assigned schools/sites to support Brighter Bites’ outdoor, contactless drive-thru produce distributions alongside the Program Coordinator. This position is part time and temporary, requiring candidates to be available for approximately 2-3 days per week for a total of 10-20 hours per week during fall, spring, and summer programming seasons.
Position Description
- Works onsite to manage the produce distribution in collaboration with the site Program Coordinator.
- Ensure proper program implementation, including: managing contactless, outdoor, drive- through produce distributions, managing all supplies and materials, supervising and leading large groups of volunteers for produce bagging and ensuring safety procedures are implemented.
- Assists the Program Coordinator with tracking Brighter Bites program components by maintaining accurate data and daily reports for each site.
- Constantly strives to engage families, site partners, and community members to create and maintain a welcoming, fun, and health-conscious environment at all times.
- Communicates with the Brighter Bites team to share successes and challenges for each assigned site and provides insight for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Overview:
As a Production Supervisor you'll operate in an administrative capacity, providing support to the Packinghouse. You will be responsible for the quality, production efficiency, training, evaluating, staffing and scheduling of manufacturing at TX1 Packinghouse. Additional tasks such as enforcing company policies, safety guidelines and processes and determining staffing levels to meet production demands.

WHO ARE WE
The Texas Office of Produce Safety within the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Trade and Business Development division works closely with FDA through a cooperative agreement to encourage safe production of fresh fruits and vegetables. TDA also works to promote the understanding and compliance with the requirements of FDA’s “Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption” (commonly referred to as the Produce Safety Rule).
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Produce Safety Field Outreach Specialist will perform complex consultative services and technical assistance work. You will develop and coordinate the regional outreach and educational efforts of TDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Program. You will serve as one of the primary regional information sources for the program for Texas producers, packers, shippers and retailers, as well as work directly with Texas agricultural producers to develop a Texas Produce Safety Program. You will work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate farm site information/data and work with agricultural industry partners to develop a farm inventory of producers to determine if growers meet federal/state requirements and are impacted by the Produce Safety Rule (PSR).
Draft reports documenting potential produce safety issues, evaluating required elements of a grower’s food safety programs and establishing improvement plans as needed.
Implement a cohesive education plan for the program while coordinating with contracted entities to research, identify and develop innovative strategies to expand awareness about the Produce Safety Rule within the selected region.
Assist FSMA- PSR Director and Produce Safety Outreach Coordinator with providing information to maintain a TDA FSMA/PSR website with relevant educational materials, upcoming educational events and links to industry resources.
Work with staff to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of FSMA/PSR outreach and education initiatives.
Disseminate policy and program information to stakeholders within selected region using multiple communication channels, such as email campaigns, social media outlets and website content; and determine the most effective and consistent communication with the public.
Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (One year of work experience related to the primary responsibilities may substitute for one year of college).
One (1) year work experience in conducting outreach activities, coordinating stakeholder relations and/or creating educational campaigns and communications.
Experience making presentations to groups.
Masters degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Agriculture Communications or related may substitute for required experience.
PREFERRED
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Agricultural Communications.
Completion of the Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training course and the Produce Safety Alliance Train the Trainer Course, preferred.

This role is a senior leadership position focused on sales and is responsible for leading and managing sales activities within the North East and Mid-West Geographical Business Unit. The role, along with the team, is accountable for selling a wide range of commodities that are part of our grower's ecosystem in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Chile. Additionally, the role carries the responsibility for the profit and loss (P&L) of the company's sales in this Business Unit, specifically for key strategic clients.
This role holds the responsibility of team building and talent development while driving business growth. We rely on this individual to utilize their industry knowledge and experience to deliver results and autonomously execute our commercial strategy. The Senior Director of Sales reports to the SVP of Retail and Alternative Channels Global and collaborates with our entire team to establish a more connected and sustainable supply chain for agricultural goods. Our goal is to unleash the potential of growers in Latin America and transform the Fresh Produce Industry through our Marketplace Platform. We aim to provide an all-encompassing solution that reduces complexity by offering working capital, financial services, knowledge, experience, and access to a platform with over $3.5 billion in gross market value transactions. This will enable connections with buyers across various market segments within the Fresh Produce Industry.
The Senior Director of Sales for Retail & Alternative Channels in the GBU will have the primary responsibility of maximizing growth, revenue, and profitability for the respective GBU. Their role is to ensure that every product from our growers' ecosystem finds a suitable market. The Senior Director will spearhead the development and execution of strategic and tactical plans to achieve ProducePay's goals and objectives. They will serve as a champion of culture, sustainability, and innovation, while also assembling and leading a team capable of driving sales in the Retail and Alternative Channels. This includes National & Regional Retail Chains, Wholesalers and Distributors (Terminal Markets), Food Service (such as Restaurants, Hotels, Coffee Shops, QSR & Convenience Stores), Processors (dealing with Fresh Cut, Frozen, Dry, and Puree products), as well as Travel & Leisure sectors such as Cruise lines.
Responsibilities
- Design, influence, and execute the strategy and transformation agenda to position ProducePay and our 54 commodities from the grower's ecosystem in targeted market segments.
- Drive business operations and sales to maximize growth, performance, and value creation for the entire Geographical Business Unit (GBU).
- Enhance organizational and cross-functional effectiveness, engagement, and culture within the GBU.
- Define and deliver the long-term strategic purpose and promise for the GBU.
- Recruit, train, motivate, and lead the ProducePay sales team to achieve daily volume and price objectives for all products.
- Assign customer and geographical responsibilities to the sales team and traders.
- Establish annual budgets for each commodity and provide demand forecasts by region and client.
- Lead new business initiatives and expand existing customer relationships.
- Ensure accurate and timely handling of invoicing and allowances.
- Conduct quarterly sales business reviews with key strategic customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including transportation/logistics, SELLERS/Growers commercial team, supply chain, commodity managers, sales enablement, field operations, marketing, and category management, to drive profitable growth in Retail and Alternative Channels.
- Potentially manage and nurture commercial relationships with specific key strategic national or regional accounts, in addition to GBU responsibilities.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Requirements
- 10-15 years Fresh Produce sales management experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, decision making skills.
- Strong understanding of account P&L.
- Knowledge and ability to use basic software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Asana, SalesForce, Google platforms, ProducePro, Cognos and Syndicated Nielsen data.
- Understanding of basics relative to Agricultural production and quality control, understanding of commodity markets and personnel management and leadership.
- Knowledge of perishable supply chain logistics, integrated account management and basic qualitative and quantitative consumer needs analysis.
