Scott Toothaker Award
You may not be familiar with the Scott Toothaker Award, but you are likely aware that in 1988 our association created the Produce Hall of Fame to recognize the pioneers and leaders of our industry. In 1989, we established a special award in honor of Scott Toothaker to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the Texas produce industry but are not, or were not, directly involved in the commercial production or marketing of fruits or vegetables. If you knew Scott, you know the dedication and love he had for our industry during the nearly 50 years he served as our general counsel.
Today, the Scott Toothaker Award is a tribute to members of our community who have served the industry or the association throughout their lifetimes. Their work has contributed significantly to the produce industry, meaningfully impacting the business as we know it today. In other words, Texas and its thriving produce industry might look very different if not for the hard work and commitment of these individuals.
