Amex Distributing Co., LP specializes in cold storage and warehousing services for the fresh produce industry. Among the items we handle are mango, avocado, cucumber, pepper, squash, onion, green beans, and more. We are located just a few miles from the USA/Mexico border in Pharr, Texas.

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Inventory Control Manager on all matters relating to inventory control, including proper planning, storage, rotation, and handling. The position holder must have a keen understanding of Famous software to analyze daily supply levels, anticipate problems or shortages, and ensure product flows in and out of the cold storage facility with minimal interruptions. The Inventory Control Supervisor liaises between those in sales and those in operations, and he/she is responsible for accurate and timely end-of-day balanced inventory reporting. A successful candidate is produce savvy, solutions-focused, and a strong communicator.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Prepare closing physical inventory count and reporting.
  2. Support coordination efforts between the cold storage facility and team to align over arrivals, shipments, work activities and priorities.
  3. Use Famous (dispatch modules) to troubleshoot, add / correct information relative to orders and inventory as needed.
  4. Be a point of contact for anyone who has questions on inventory, allocations, changes, and priorities.
  5. Ensure orders ship out correctly (with correct pick tickets, communicating with team on changes).
  6. Promote efforts to improve communication between the warehouse and sales.
  7. Support inventory allocation, staging, and rotation efforts.
  8. Perform other operational duties as needed (e.g., restacking, repalletization, tagging).
  9. Stay on top of customer specs and QC requirements and support the Inventory Control Manager on managing QC efforts.
  10. Coordinate with the QC team on inspection sampling, and support with moving products to/from the cold room.
  11. Responsible for afternoon and end-of-day inbound/outbound transportation updates

  12. Prepare for and present during the morning operations calls as needed.
  13. Support with repack supervision, including coordinating between the repackers, warehouse, accounting, and sales teams on product; maintaining a good working relationship with the repacking company; estimating crew needs and scheduling; ensuring paperwork accuracy; and making sure pallet tags and PTI labels are printed, and product is tagged accordingly.

Core Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to develop/maintain good relationships.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional manner.
  • Solid understanding of cold storage handling and inventory rotation of fresh fruit and vegetables. Experience with mangos a plus.
  • Experience working with Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Famous Software experience is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) a must.
  • Targeted area is within 20 miles of Pharr or McAllen, TX.
