Job Description
Overview:
The Claims Representative will be responsible for the resolution, monitoring and tracking of spoilage claims and returns submitted by customers. This position will administrate the claims process for both domestic and export customers. In this capacity, the Claims Coordinator will review claim proposals for accuracy and compliance with company standards and will either accept claims as received or offer counter settlements based upon internal investigation and review.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Investigation, resolution and collection of loss, damage and spoilage claims in a timely and accurate manner.
Preparation and review of incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Tracking and monitoring of claims via a master Excel Spreadsheet.
Correct and accurate adjustment of amounts due from the customer.
Make recommendations and implementing processes to strategically improve claims recovery.
Work with Sales and Customer Service personnel to expedite the resolution of open claims.
Qualifications
Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the claims/deduction resolution and settlement process for both domestic and export markets, preferably in the perishable commodities/food industry.
Experience in international trade (Asian Markets) and the food retailing business is strongly desired.
Knowledgeable in domestic and international trade regulations, shipping procedures and documents including survey drafts, certificates, bills of lading, and invoices.
Must be analytical, detail oriented, flexible and highly organized in order to balance the responsibilities associated with the position.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems. Oracle experience preferred.
Display high standards of diplomacy along with sound business and relationship judgment.
