Job Responsibilities: |
Austin Legislative Office Secretary/Organization and Public Policy Function: To assist both Divisions, and all Departments within, in maintaining the desired standard of professionalism, efficiency and quality work to carry out the responsibilities of each area, with special emphasis on the Austin Legislative Office. Major Responsibilities and Authority: To perform the clerical and secretarial work of both Divisions as assigned. To maintain adequate office Supplies, and ensure office equipment is in functional condition in that office. Type letters, reports, memos, maintain filing systems, answer telephones and all other basic secretarial tasks as directed and assigned by the Administrative Supervisor. Assist off-site as requested with functions and meetings that may be held out-of-town, after-hours and on weekends. Communicate and work effectively and efficiently with personnel in other Divisions, Departments and Affiliated Companies. To keep informed on projects, programs, activities and concerns of State Legislative Office for the betterment and effectiveness of Texas Farm Bureau. To help monitor the internet, newspapers, television, legislative clipping service, newsletters, and other media for information relating to state government, agriculture or Texas Farm Bureau. Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy. Other duties as may be assigned. |
Job Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications: High School graduate and at least two years secretarial experience Type 50 wpm Proficiently operate all office equipment Willing to travel as required Efficient clerical skills, a working knowledge of personal computers including advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. Excellent communications skills both written and oral. Strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate a number of tasks at the same time. Valid Texas drivers license, and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy. |

Occasional long, irregular hours. Use of P.C., telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day. Extended periods of sitting and concentration. Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs. |
