Account Executive, Fresh Produce Buyers

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Sales Executive to support our Buyers. You will be an integral part of ProducePay’s expansion in the US market and will take an active role in driving sales processes, customer relationships, and achieving aggressive growth objectives.
This role requires a solution-based selling and relationship-oriented sales executive managing the end-to-end sales process for our Buyer programs.
This role requires a deep understanding of bulk purchasing and programmatic sales of fresh produce. You will have direct engagement with fresh produce buyers, including retailers, distributors, wholesalers, brokers, CPG companies, online direct-to-consumer brands, and food service providers. Applicants should have a deep understanding of sourcing, category management, supply management, and fresh produce sales cycles. It is important that applicants understand a wide array of fresh produce commodity types, and the nuances of sourcing different commodities from different regions (both domestic and international). Finally, you should have a track record of successfully selling to customers with $100M+ in revenue and demonstrated success in a results-oriented team.
Experience making sales calls to produce buyers and selling to various buyers of produce. You will prospect, cultivate, pitch, and close new accounts. This position will need to be comfortable selling new, customized products. This role will need you to leverage your existing relationships and invest in building new relationships with customers.
This position requires frequent travel to visit customers across their assigned territory and to sales conventions. In addition to working with the broader sales team, this position will need to work collaboratively with the Seller sales team, sales operations, and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Master sales pitch and messaging that is well integrated with marketing across multiple platforms delivery (events, conferences, web, sales collateral, etc.)
- Develop a method to efficiently reach out to new customers and reduce the buying timeline of target accounts (i.e. 6-12 months for commodity buyers)
- Work collaboratively with technology, operations, customer success, and account management to ensure new customers are effectively onboarded
- Drive ProducePay’s growth by ensuring the rapid acquisition of new US customers, specifically focused on US fresh produce growers and buyers
- Manage to daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets
- Monitor performance KPIs and effectively manage via sales CRM
- Handle customer objections and serve as a go-to-closer
- Leverage existing network of relationships in the fresh produce industry to drive sales
Requirements
- 5+ years of sales experience
- demonstrated success selling to the fresh produce industry (e.g. farms, exporters, importers, distributors, and wholesalers).
- Experience in selling fresh produce programs to enterprise customers, including international, national, or multi-state food retailers, food manufacturers, food processors, and/or food wholesalers (experience across multiple fresh produce commodities is preferred)
- Familiarity with Sales CRM technology solutions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- A strong network of professional relationships within the fresh produce industry
- Demonstrated ability to sell new products and programs
- Experience in a purchasing or operating role at a distributor/wholesaler or large retailer
- A high-energy leader with a strong work ethic and willingness to work cross-functionally
- Experience selling multiple commodities from multiple growing regions
- Repeated success in long-sales cycles, with demonstrated performance cultivating and winning new business within major accounts
- Must be a Data-driven Sales Manager
- 4-year bachelor’s degree minimum
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are helpful
